Privacy
You can use this guide without telling us anything about yourself.
- No accounts needed, no adverts and no tracking cookies.
- We count visits so we know which guides help most, with Vercel Web Analytics (our hosting company's tool). It uses no cookies and doesn't follow you to other websites. It records the page, where you came from, your country and the kind of device and browser, and it can't tell who you are. Each visitor is counted with a code that changes every day.
- The quick search on the home page runs on your own phone or computer. What you type there stays there.
- Pages load nothing from other companies' websites: no outside fonts, scripts or trackers. The visit counter is served from this site's own address.
- Checklist ticks on a guide are saved in your own browser only. Clearing your browser data removes them.
- When you follow a link to an official website, that website's own privacy rules apply.
- Like almost every website, our hosting company may keep basic technical logs (such as IP addresses and which pages were opened) for a short time to keep the site running and secure.
- If your browser has JavaScript turned off, a search is sent as part of the page address, so it can appear in those logs.
When you use the chat
- Your messages are sent to our server and to Anthropic, the company that makes the AI model (Claude), so an answer can be written. Anthropic handles them under its own commercial terms and privacy policy.
- We don't store your conversation on our server and we don't use it to identify you.
- The conversation is kept in your browser for this visit, so you can scroll back. It is cleared when you close the tab or press New chat.
- Don't share ID numbers, passport numbers or other personal details. You never need them here, and the chat removes anything that looks like an ID number, passport number or email address before sending.
- Answers come from our guides but can still be wrong. Check with the office before you travel or pay.
- If the AI isn't available, the chat answers straight from the guides, and your question is matched on your own device instead.
When you rate or review a service or office
- A rating is anonymous. We keep the stars and your answers (whether you got what you came for, how long you waited, the two short questions it asked and, at some offices, what you came for), added to the totals for that service or office and that month.
- If you rate after scanning an office's QR code, we note that it was made at the office, and the counter number on the card. It never says who served you.
- If you write a review, its words are shown publicly on that place's page, with the stars, your answers and the date. Before it is saved we take out email addresses, phone and ID numbers, links and names of staff. Don't put anything in a review that could identify you or anyone else.
- You can add a name to a written review: a first name or nickname, shown with it publicly. It is optional and we don't check it. Leave it empty and the review shows as an anonymous visitor.
- Anyone can report a review. A review reported by a few people is hidden. Reviews with abusive words aren't accepted.
- The office you rated can reply to your review. Its reply shows under your review, publicly. Offices see the same reviews and totals as everyone, by month and by counter; they never see who you are.
- To stop the same person rating something many times a day, we keep a scrambled code made from your internet address and the date. It can't be turned back into your address, and it is deleted after 24 hours.
- The Customer Care Index shows how visitors found a service. It is not an official measure.
When you use "Use my location"
- Your phone asks you first. Your location is used only on your phone, to sort the offices by distance. It is never sent to us or anyone else.
When you contact us
- The contact form sends us what you choose to tell us: what it's about, your message, and the guide or office it concerns. Your email address only if you give one, so we can reply.
- We keep each message until we've dealt with it, and for no more than 12 months. We use it only to answer you and to correct the site. We never share it or add you to a mailing list.
- Messages reach our inbox by email, through an email delivery service. To stop the form being misused, we count how many messages come from one connection in an hour, without keeping your address.
- Please don't include ID numbers, passport numbers or other personal details. We never need them.
