What you'll usually need
Tick things off as you gather them. Your ticks are saved on this phone only.
Steps
- Go to the official booking site, civilregistry.gov.zw. Choose a passport office, fill in the form and book a time. Pay the fee through the site's approved online payment methods. If you can't pay by card, ask your passport office how to pay before you go.
- On the day, bring your original documents. Staff take fingerprints and photos at the office, so everyone applying must go in person. For a child under 5, also bring two passport-size photos.
- For a child under 18, a parent or guardian signs the application.
- Collect the passport in person with your ID and proof of payment. Someone else can only collect it if they have a notarised letter of authority and their own ID.
Good to know
- You can choose the ordinary service or a faster emergency service, which costs more. Check the current fees on the booking site.
- The booking site lists the passport offices that take appointments, including Harare, Bulawayo and several provincial towns.
- Living abroad? The Zimbabwe consulate in Johannesburg takes e-passport applications. Elsewhere, ask the nearest Zimbabwe embassy how it handles passports.
Watch out
Only start from civilregistry.gov.zw. The Civil Registry has warned about a fake passport website. A Zimbabwe embassy has also warned about a bogus online "agency" claiming to issue documents. No one can skip the in-person fingerprint step for you.
