Register for ZIMSEC exams

You register for ZIMSEC exams through your school or a ZIMSEC-approved centre, not at ZIMSEC offices. If you are a private candidate, register at an approved centre with your ID.

Steps

  1. If you are at school, the school registers you. Ask the school for its deadline.
  2. If you are a private candidate, register at a ZIMSEC-approved centre. Show a metal or plastic national ID card, or a passport or driver's licence with your photo printed in it. Bring the same ID to every exam paper. A centre that doesn't know you must check it before you write.
  3. Pay the exam fees to your school or centre by the deadline it gives you. Never pay into a ZIMSEC bank account yourself. Private candidates pay the full fee when they register. School candidates pay through the school. Grade 7 fees have been collected term by term, with the government paying part of the fee at public schools.
  4. Check that your name and subjects are recorded correctly before you leave.

Good to know

  • ZIMSEC announces registration dates each year. Ask your school or centre.

Watch out

Don't buy or share exam papers advertised as "leaked". ZIMSEC has warned that sellers on WhatsApp and social media are fraudsters selling fake or old papers. People who bought or shared genuinely leaked papers in 2022 were arrested and prosecuted. ZIMSEC also cancels the results of candidates caught with unauthorised material.
